The Duck flies at Midnight...

I just love logging in and seeing new comments from fellow bloggers! Lealou tagged me with a funny/interesting blog challenge (I just love the title, it's used to warn someone when someone else is coming, like at a surprise party when the guest of honour is spotted)– so here goes:

1. I love to be “different” I think this is something that I have always strived for. Growing up I didn’t want what everyone else had, I wanted what no one else had. I just love hearing from someone else “oh that’s lovely – I’ve never seen that before” I guess that’s why I also love hand made items. There’s no other one like it out there anywhere.

2. The shortest job I ever had lasted 12 hours. Now it’s not what you think, I didn’t get fired that quick. I got my first job at McDonald’s when I was 16 years old. I won’t tell you how long ago that was; let’s just say minimum wage was $6.40. We were required to attend 3 - 4 hour training sessions before we were even given a uniform and allowed to work on the floor. On the night of my last training session I got a call from Canadian Tire and asked to come in for an interview. The store was closer to my house (which was important because I had to walk) and the hours weren’t as late, so I agreed to meet with them after my training session. I got the job on the spot. I was scheduled to work the next day at McDonald’s, so on my lunch from school I walked to the restaurant and expressed my gratitude and apologies and returned my uniform. Best part… I got a cheque in the mail from McDonald’s for the 12 hours I “worked” in the mail the following week.

3. I have lived a short life –height wise that is– I am only 4’11” a few less inches I would be a “little person”. Not that it would be a bad thing. I love being short. For most of my life I have been able to buy my clothes and shoes out of the kid’s department stores and only pay one tax! Unfortunately I now have my “lady curves” and no longer fit into the small kids stuff. I can’t wait for my “mommy curves” – oh brother.

4. I absolutely love the Tazo green tea at Starbucks – make mine a Venti! I’m on a mission to loose 15 lbs (maybe 20) and one of the things I’ve done is stop drinking pop and juices, I drink only green tea and water. Sometimes I will treat myself and have a regular tea or juice, but for the most part its water or green tea!

5. I hate to not be organized, but find it hard to actually organize. I love to look at rows of items neatly placed, or a bookshelf full of books and different sizes of boxes and magazine files. The hard part for me is actually sitting down and getting it to that point. The second hardest thing is keeping it that way. I think it’s because I love to be creative and find inspiration from anything, I would rather see everything than have it all hidden away. Okay so maybe that’s a lame excuse – hehehe.

6. I love to cook and try new recipes. There’s something so satisfying about looking at what you just worked so hard at and seeing that it looks just like the picture from the recipe. The worst is finding a recipe that sounds really good but there’s no picture to tell you what it looks like. Humph – how am I supposed to know I’m on the right track????

7. I have an uncanny ability to know what to say to make people feel better. I mean when someone dies, or is ill, or is going through a tough relationship issue. I start talking all philosophical and sound like I belong at Hallmark writing cards. I don’t know where it comes from and sometimes I surprise myself with how wise I sound. I guess it’s one of those talents that we don’t know we have until the right situation opens our eyes to the gift we have.

Thanks for the tag! I really enjoyed your random facts, I laughed out loud at your 12 hour job. I've certainly been there! I'll be sure to post this later in the week.

Thanks for tagging me!
First random thing about me,
I'm very bad at actually doing these blog meme's!
I have put it on my to-do list however and hopefully really get to doing it this time. Otherwise, i'm sorry already...
