I have been sitting at the same desk at work for a little under a year now. Today I looked at the grey printing room I spend half of my time and and the bland desk I work at for the other half and thought to myself "how uninspiring". No wonder I feel creatively drained I'm surrounded by grey.
I wish there was something I could do to my desk area that would brighten it up a bit. When I first got here I tried having a plant but since I'm very far from the window it didn't do very well. I've thought about getting some photos of my family and my nieces and nephews, which I still would like to do. Other than that I am drawing a blank. How do you make a desk in an open concept environtment more inspiring but not affect the others in the office? I am in a bank after all. That being said, no I am not the one in banking (that would be way to 'grey' of a job for me) I work in the visual presentations department, formatting and creating pitch books for the bankers.

I feel your pain on this one! I find that lamps help. I brought a cute little Target lamp and put it next to my computer. It helps.
