More than a Picture Captured

I really didn't think about posting these pictures until I read this post over at Rambling Renovators. She was inspired by this post at Under the Sycamore. They both talk about capturing the true personality of their children through the lens.

When I was searching through my 203 images of Olivia in her baptism dress I never thought of the "others" as her personalty, rather missed photos. Then I went back an looked at them. A few weeks ago you could sit her down and ask her to smile, make silly noises and she would sit nicely and laugh for you. Not this photo shoot. She leaned into the camera, played with her dress, sometimes even eating it. She blew raspberries and stood up when I told her to sit down. She has grown. She no longer can sit still in a stroller or a chair while you take pictures. She thinks the sound of raspberries is much better than a silent smile. Instead of a smile, most of the time you get "kissy lips". She is my baby and her inner self is starting to shine through.

So before you right a photo off as out of focus, someone not looking at the camera or a cry instead of a smile, look deeper. See the reflection in a shinny object, the reason for the sparkle in their eye, an emotion instead of a pose, look for all that you have captured in that photo, not just a pretty face.

Such cute pics of Olivia. You've really captured how happy and engaging she is. They sure grow up fast, don't they.
