24 weeks and Halloween

Here I am at 24 weeks. I can't believe we are already at our 6 month mark. The room I'm standing in is now the painted nursery. It's painted a creamy yellow. My sister started the wall mural painting this weekend. The change table and night table are both in the nursery too. We have to repair the crib, hang the drapes and then we can start with the real decorating. I can't wait.

Over to Halloween news, here's our front porch decorated a few minutes before our first kids showed up. It's nothing too scary or elaborate. I couldn't stand on a ladder or finish the decorations I wanted to make. The pregnancy has limited me in some ways. I guess it was a good thing though, most of the kids in our neighbourhood are under the age of 8 and were scared enough of our house. Overall it was a great evening. We had close to 200 kids! yikes.

Sorry I've been away a few days, work has been really busy. Here are a few things that have happened in the past couple days that I just had to blog about.

I just had to say...

A big thank you to Pink Chalk Stuido for the lovely parcel I recieved in the mail. I hope to use one of these beautiful fabrics on the back side of a pillow for my eldest nieces Christmas gift...I can't say much more on this topic, but stay tuned for sneak peaks and updates.

The past few days I've been working the early shift (8-4) instead of 11-7. Which means there has been a lot more time after work to get things done. Like baking muffins and preparing dinner. On Tuesday I made stuffed pasta shells, I snapped this photo just before I covered the entire thing with cheese. As I turned to put it in the oven Kenrick was standing there....

I just had to say....

"Look Hunny I'm domestic"

He laughed and rolled his eyes, "Oh brother"

I stopped in the pet store last night to get Milo a new collar, as I walked past the bird cages....

I just had to take...

a picture of this beautiful little guy. I love birds, however not the mess or noise they make. Especially the ones that don't sing, just chirp. I love the pretty blue feathers. Would you pay $1400 for him? I don't think I would. Well maybe if he sung really pretty, wore a hat and played the guitar.

I know Halloween is over, but as I stood in line to buy Milo's new collar my eye caught sight of the Halloween costumes. Well actually the sign that read 75% off caught my eye, then I saw the costumes. Now I'm not one for dressing animals up and toturing them with family photos that get mailed as the Christmas card, but

For $2, I just had to buy it....

You can tell he wasn't very impressed by it. I only kept it on him for an hour until Kenrick came home and asked me why the heck I spent money on it. To be fair it is really meant for my dad. Not the shirt, I think it's a little small for him, but Milo dressed up. A few days before Halloween dad was watching a talk show where they had cats and dogs dressed up for Halloween. Dad turned to mom and said, "I wonder what Milo will be this year"

Mom couldn't contain the laughter and told dad to call me and ask. So when they come to visit this Saturday guess what Milo will be wearing to greet them at the door. They better have treats for him.

Gouls, Chocolate Stashes and the New Guy

I know I really need to start thinking up more interesting titles for my posts. , But hey check out the new banner. I'm so proud of myself.

Any hoo - the first image is the house on Halloween all lite up. I had one little mermaid tell me my house was the scariest one. I also had a few kids tell their parents they didn't want to come to my house cause it was too scary. You could hear them across the street. My first set of kids came with all of their parents. The parents were so thrilled to see all of my decorations they took picturs of all the kids in different areas on the lawn. Their kids loved every minute and asked if they could kick the wearwolf to see if he was real. It was so much fun. I am also happy to report there was no leftover candy. My waistline says thank you.

Near the end of the night I had to send Kenrick down to the storage pantry to grab my box of backup chocolate. He was so upset that I was about to give away his favorite chocolate. I told him to spill the box and pick all of his favorites before the next set of kids came to the door. For those of you looking into the background, yes his electric drums are still in our living room. Every please welcome the newest squatter to my living room, the fooze ball table. This table was inherited from my cousin because he doesn't have anywhere to put it. I don't know why it didn't make it's way down to the basement, but it's lying in the middle of the living room and its legs are stashed in the corner of the dining room. I can't wait for the holidays to come so that we can start entertaining in our home again. Then these items will not and can not stay in this room

Kenrick's stash unfortunately didn't make it through the night. We had so many kids I had to hand these guys out too. Maybe I will get him a coffee crisp on the way home tonight to make up for it :)

This will definately make you all laugh. 2 years ago, for my wedding shower gift, one of my aunts gave us a pizza stone that came with it's own pizza cutter. The stone makes wonderful pizza (dispite the oil stains from the cheese that just won't wash off), but the pizza cutter was a little wobbly. It has been fine for the past few years because we swore we would only use it on home made pizza and with our busy schedules don't get to make it that often. Until recently when we discovered some really yummy, and not that bad for you, frozen pizzas at our groceery store. Now we are eating pizza at least once a week or every other week. It's a quick dinner when neither of us want to cook, or it's late. On our last visit to HomeSense, Kenrick announced that our little wobbly pizza cutter just doesn't (cut it) measure up anymore. So we set out in search of a new one. Meet the new, Mario Batali deluxe super-dee-duper pizza cutter (that's not the actual name). The thing is massive and dwarfs our old pizza cutter. Poor little guy. Maybe I will keep him around for cutting other food items and leave the heavy duty pizza cutting business up to the new guy.

Yeah it's Halloween, my favorite holiday. Last night was a late night and I was not able to find a pumpkin. Yeah this year has been full of last minute task completion. Remember this, I also finished it.

This morning I did K's makeup for his work costume. If you dress up there today you get to go home early. Plus he could win the costume contest. Crossing my fingers.

I'm excited to be going home early today so that I can pick up Milo and get ready for the trick-or-treaters. Yes pick up Milo, he went for surgery on Wednesday. Nothing serious, just a little "down there" snippy and de-clawing. I also got him registerd. I miss the little guy and can't wait to see him. I wonder how he will react to all the trick-or-reaters.

Yesterday I blogged about the Halloween decorations that I finally got around to putting up. What I forgot to blog about was the small issue I am having and can't seem to think of a good solution for. See the 100' of ugly industrial extension cord hanging from my - gasp - mailbox! The only plug that I have at the front of the house is the one by the front door. I have a flood light and strobe light among the decoration in the yard and this is the only place to plug them all in. Anyone have any ideas to hide them? Kenrick suggested stuffing them into the mailbox, but I'm not sure they will fit. Plus I'm not putting my hands in there where potential bugs are lurking-yuck! I thought about a witch or ghost, but think it might be to scary for the little ones that come to the door. It's one thing to have a wearwolf lounging on the grass, but it's another thing to have a monster lurking right next to the doorbell.

Quilt update & Halloween

Hey everyone, been furiously sewing to get the quilt done in time to be washed and wrapped for Saturday. Thank you for your words of encouragement. All that is left is the binding and a personalized patch.
