Trusty side kick

Milo has been following me around the house like a personal body guard. I go upstairs he does too. Walk to the kitchen for water, he's at my feet. Quick trip to the bathroom and he's either in there with me or has his paws under the door. If I take a nap in the recliner, he's in the basket on the floor next to me. If I get up from "my chair" he hops on and then I must share the seat with him. Even as I am typing this post he is a foot away from me lying on the floor. I wonder if he will be this protective of the "Bunny".

We should have named him Telus

Every time this Telus commercial comes on Milo goes nuts! He walks over to the TV and sits in front of it. He follows the hippo across the screen, and gives it the stare down if we pause the channel. K and I actually rewind and replay the commercial a few times just to see him react. It's too funny for words.

A productive Sunday

Progress on DLN's quilt along has begun! I finally went to the store and got myself a compass. I've been meaning to get one all week so that I could get started. Today I put pencil to paper and made my template. I also was able to trace out 108 petals onto the lining and cut them all out. It was a productive day for my quilt along.

Here's a sneak at some of the Amy Butler, Daisy Chain fabrics I will be using along with a few others that are on order. They may seem to "feminine" for a boy's quilt, but I might end up making this quilt as a lap quilt for myself. I have another quilt in the works for the baby anyway.

My sister also made some progress on the nursery mural. She is drawing and painting a huge tree on the wall with birds that will sit above the change table. As you can see she had some supervision throughout the day. Milo is definitely a people cat. He doesn't need to be on your lap, he just likes to be in the same room. He sat in the room with us for most of the day.

Laundry almost complete and a sick kitty

If you've been reading for a while now you may remember my post about our re-vamped laundry room. So now I am proud to introduce to you the second phase of our lovely laundry room - the drying rack.

Dad and K built the top shelf out of MDF and the metal bar is a simple shower curtain rod that you can buy at Home Depot. This week K will prime and paint the shelf.

We bought some simple white hangers from IKEA for K to hang dry his shirts. He believes that drying them in the dryer shrinks them, so this rack is a must in our house. Otherwise we end up with shirts hanging all over the door knobs in our house.
On a side note we came home to our poor little guy not feeling too well. At first I though it was just a hair ball. He gets very upset when he has a hair ball and ends up lying in his litter box. I thought that was all. However later in the evening when he finally came out of the litter box he kept lying on floor and rolling around like he was in pain. At one point he was actually shaking like he was cold. I tried to wrap him in a blanket, but he didn't want any part of it. K said to leave him be and if he was still acting odd in the morning we could call the vet. Thankfully he was back to his old wild and crazy self the next day. I guess just like humans, the older we get the harder it is for us to recuperate from a crazy night.

I'm a handsom Monster

I know it's been a while since I logged on when mom wasn't home. Here's a new picture of me on my chair. Sometimes I share it with mom when she reads. I know, I'm a handsom monster. That's what mom calls me.

If you should call tonight and no one answers, it's because mom is out drooling over "Twilight" the movie.

She's almost done book 4. It only takes 2 days for her to read them, they must be really good. She's even stopped assembling the furniture in her art room for the books. Hopefully she will be done by Saturday and can get back to work. That's what dad is hoping for.

I just had to....

Sorry I've been away a few days, work has been really busy. Here are a few things that have happened in the past couple days that I just had to blog about.

I just had to say...

A big thank you to Pink Chalk Stuido for the lovely parcel I recieved in the mail. I hope to use one of these beautiful fabrics on the back side of a pillow for my eldest nieces Christmas gift...I can't say much more on this topic, but stay tuned for sneak peaks and updates.

The past few days I've been working the early shift (8-4) instead of 11-7. Which means there has been a lot more time after work to get things done. Like baking muffins and preparing dinner. On Tuesday I made stuffed pasta shells, I snapped this photo just before I covered the entire thing with cheese. As I turned to put it in the oven Kenrick was standing there....
I just had to say....
"Look Hunny I'm domestic"

He laughed and rolled his eyes, "Oh brother"

I stopped in the pet store last night to get Milo a new collar, as I walked past the bird cages....
I just had to take...
a picture of this beautiful little guy. I love birds, however not the mess or noise they make. Especially the ones that don't sing, just chirp. I love the pretty blue feathers. Would you pay $1400 for him? I don't think I would. Well maybe if he sung really pretty, wore a hat and played the guitar.

I know Halloween is over, but as I stood in line to buy Milo's new collar my eye caught sight of the Halloween costumes. Well actually the sign that read 75% off caught my eye, then I saw the costumes. Now I'm not one for dressing animals up and toturing them with family photos that get mailed as the Christmas card, but
For $2, I just had to buy it....

You can tell he wasn't very impressed by it. I only kept it on him for an hour until Kenrick came home and asked me why the heck I spent money on it. To be fair it is really meant for my dad. Not the shirt, I think it's a little small for him, but Milo dressed up. A few days before Halloween dad was watching a talk show where they had cats and dogs dressed up for Halloween. Dad turned to mom and said, "I wonder what Milo will be this year"

Mom couldn't contain the laughter and told dad to call me and ask. So when they come to visit this Saturday guess what Milo will be wearing to greet them at the door. They better have treats for him.

Happy Halloween!

Yeah it's Halloween, my favorite holiday. Last night was a late night and I was not able to find a pumpkin. Yeah this year has been full of last minute task completion. Remember this, I also finished it.
Wreath - Walmart $6.99
Skeleton - Walmart $1.96
Spray paint - Home Depot $5.49
Boa - Old Halloween costume - $0
Total = $14.44
The skeletons eyes light up green.
This morning I did K's makeup for his work costume. If you dress up there today you get to go home early. Plus he could win the costume contest. Crossing my fingers.
I'm excited to be going home early today so that I can pick up Milo and get ready for the trick-or-treaters. Yes pick up Milo, he went for surgery on Wednesday. Nothing serious, just a little "down there" snippy and de-clawing. I also got him registerd. I miss the little guy and can't wait to see him. I wonder how he will react to all the trick-or-reaters.

Orange, Black and Cozy

I did some decorating this weekend, finaly. I know, I know Halloween is this week. A little late. Well at least it's done now. The wearwolf on the left took the longest time. The ghost is from last year and is on a wooden stake. The skeleton was tide to the railing with fishing wire to look like he is standing, but now only his hand is tied because 10 mins after I finished decorating the sky opened up rained all over my parade. I will have to fix him before Friday. The urn next to the wearwolf is going to be where the jack-o-lantern sits. Away from the stairs, last year I was so scared that one of my little trick-or-treaters was going to step on the jack-o-lantern and catch fire.
Some spray paint, a wreath, a feather boa and a door hanger who's eyes light up. Stay tuned to see what I make with these....
After a cold and windy day outside I came indoors to find fresh bowl of french onion soup that Kenrick was working on for dinner. So yummy.

Then I curled up in my chair and got cozy with Milo. This picture was taken an hour after he came and sat with me. He was so sleepy and cuddly. I just love sitting in my chair like this. He purrs and sometimes will adjust his position to put his arm around my neck.

Trouble is spelt M-i-l-o

Last Saturday Kenrick got up before me and let Milo out of his room. Kenrick did his regular routine of making coffee and watching the news. When I got up, an hour later, I heard a certain feline in our closet. I walked over to find this mess below. It was a lovely little lavendar arrangement from my best friends wedding shower. Milo thought he would play mister flourist and rearrange the whole thing. I was mad at first but when you look at that sad little face you can't help but think "he just wanted to play, he's only a kitten". Yeah right!

This is the "i'm so bored, won't you play with me?" face

Secret Love Affair

I just had to post about the secret love affair going on between these two. By two I mean Milo and the vaccum. When he's quiet and no where to be found searching around the vaccum is always how we find him. He cuddles it, sleeps in between the loops of the hose. Sometimes you can even catch one paw wrapped around the hose as he sleeps. It's really funny and cute, and still I can't understand the attraction.

Mom's at work....

Hey it's Milo, look what I can do now. I know how to get up on the window sill. Mom's at work, not doing much of anything, dad's at work but he's coming home soon. Me I'm just chilling in my room listening to the birds and catching some zzzz's. See you later! Oh don't tell mom I used the computer, I still have a chewing the cords complex to get over and I'm not allowed near the silly machine.

Milo update

Milo is adjusting well to his new home. He now knows how to get from the family room to the upstairs bedroom where his litter and food are. Before he would stay in whatever room you took him to and would not venture out into the rest of the house.
The cute orange fish in the picture is one of the toys the vet gave to him last Saturday. It's his absolute favorite. He can be watching t.v. and the fish can be lying on the floor across the room and then all of a sudden he will spring from his spot and b-line it for the fish. Ultimate attack - kicking with hind legs, bitting and swatting with front paws. So funny.
He also discovered the clean laundry pile of warm sheets on the sofa and cuddled up for an afternoon nap on Monday. It was a holiday here so Kenrick and I did the same thing - minus the clean sheets of course.
Our friends came over for a quick visit and their 15 month old loved our "woof woof". We tried to explain that it was a "meow meow" or a cat, but he would only shout "woof woof" louder. Really cute.
At the end of a long day Kenrick and Milo took some time together to have a real bonding moment. Actually Kenrick fell asleep and Milo walked over and got comfortable. My boys are so adorable.

Small error in previous post

So Our sweet kitten had a vet appointment on Saturday to make sure they had a clean bill of health. I took the sweetheart in and within seconds the vet looked and me and smiled saying,

"This isn't a girl, it's a boy" *check under the tail again* "yup it's definately a boy"

He then asked me if I was going to take him back to the pet store or if I was still going to keep him. I answered quickly, "Keep him of course, he's part of our family now and we can't just send him back cause we wanted a girl"

We had bonded with him and we couldn't take him back. That would be like being pregnant and being told it's a girl and when the baby is delivered and it turns out to be a boy saying "send it back we wanted a girl"

So Cece is now Milo and is still sweet as ever. Yes we got him a nice new collar with blue and brown polka dots on it, he couldn't wear the pink one says my husband.
