I am hoping to also take the above paint and finish the bird house along the lines of the third image. The bird house was hand made by my cousins neighbour for Kenrick and I when we got married. It is the largest bird house I have ever seen and it weighs a tone. I'm pretty sure the lid is too heavy for a squirel to lift, but you never know with those guys. We will also have to get a metal pole and platform made to attach to the birdhouse base so that we can have it free standing in the backyard.
Update:I just saw this image and think the house might look better with the house red and the roof blue, thoughts anyone?
