Eye catching machine and a unsettling realization

Last night I had to pop in to Walmart to buy a paint brush. I was asked by one of my friends to make a banner for her father-in-laws birthday/retirement party. As I walked into the arts and crafts section my attention was jerked by a beautiful endcap. Meet the Brother XL-3510T.

For a very resonable price of $180 this little guy could be mine. I know what you're thinking husband, "you already have a machine", but you see I didn't choose it. My current machine was a gift from my parents on my 22 birthday. I'm not sure where they got the idea that I wanted a sewing machine, as I had never expressed interest in sewing before. However I have made a few things with my machine and been very happy with them. I made my sister an adult size sheep costume for Halloween 3 years ago, and I made 2 quilts for my niece's doll bed this past year. My mom said she bought it for my so that I could hem my own pants. Never done that yet - lol.

Here's the unsettling realization, the quilt that I need to have done for next Saturday will need to be quilted. I originally thought I could use my machine, but after seeing how large the quilt actually is and remembering how I almost broke the machine when I quilted the doll quilts, I think I will have to come up with another solution. If I had the patience and time I would hand quilt it, but we all know that's not going to happen. So last night when I saw the new machine, that said right on the box "great for beginner quilters" I thought my problems were solved. Now if I could only get the rest of the quilt done.

Side Note: Did anyone else have that silly Cinderella song in their head after reading my last blog? I sung it all the way home. Oh brother, no connection to the above post, or maybe....

I'm enjoying the quilt progress -- and now that you have this new 'assistant', I think you'll finish in time and happy happy.
